As you know from all the news, elections are coming up in November! If we find good candidates, support them, and vote for them, we can also have real elections in the county and the state. It will take all of us to do that. In Cache County, we the following positions are on the ballot. Since our last email, we have made great progress in finding good, strong candidates. We are still looking for more good strong candidates to join the team.
Utah State Senate, District 25
Utah State House, District 3 (In negotiations)
Utah State House, District 4
Utah State House, District 5 (In negotiations)
Cache County Council, Logan Seat #1
Cache County Council, Logan Seat #2
Cache County Council, North District (Have a great candidate)
Cache County Council, South District
You are probably asking where these districts are located and what are the requirements to run. The easy answer is to go to Candidates.
In more detail, go to our website, cachedems.org, and at the bottom right, click on hit "Click to learn more". On that page at the bottom left, click on "Learn More". In either case, what follows is information about each of the positions listed above and a map of the district.
Have a good look at these maps and think about whom you know in the appropriate district. Who is passionate about what happens in the district, your town, the county, and the state. Talk to them and let us know (addresses below) who they are. We will follow up.
Do this quickly! (The filing period for candidates is March 11 through March 17.) Think hard about whom you want to represent you in the future and give us your suggestions.
Here are some more important dates:
Caucus Meetings -- Tuesday, March 22, at 6:00 pm
We may not have the eyes of the nation on us as Iowa did, but our caucus meetings are nonetheless extremely important.
Put the date and time on your calendars. Plan on being there. The locations are given atLocations. This is when and where you get to have a fundamental say in the election process.
In addition, this year, the caucus meetings are where we have our Presidential Primary. Yes, we do have a primary, or more properly a Presidential Preference Poll. To participate, you have to participate in the caucus meeting.
Cache County Convention -- Saturday, April 16, at 9:00 am Logan High School, Little Theater
